United Artists 4 a Cause
Jacqueline Korteweg
I create jewellery, charcoal sketches and paintings. Most of my sketches are also available as limited edition greeting cards.
I live with my family surrounded by animals on a small acreage south of Ottawa. I am inspired by God's creation
and love to find new ways to incorporate its color combinations into my work.
Our family runs an equine assisted learning program which we offer for free to siblings of children with above average needs of their parents' attention. I am CHA and EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) certified and if you would like some more information about how it works you can follow the link at the bottom of this page or contact me directly.
I know first-hand how hard therapy is on a family's pocket book and if there was more money, there would be more therapy - for the disabled child. Don't get me wrong, every cent spent to help our extraordinary children is worth spending a thousand times but there is seldom any money left for the rest of the family. This can seem unfair to siblings and resentment is all too often the result. Adult siblings have shared with me that they felt "robbed of their childhood". If we can help just one child overcome those feelings and the guilt associated with it, our goal will be achieved.
Everything I sell (minus the donations we make to other organizations) is to help keep our little farm afloat. We have seven horses, one pony, one cow, three dogs, and assorted cats, chicken, bunnies, pigeons etc. Every animal has its own story and needs and every animal plays a role in the program we are offering. We are not a registered charitable organization, and while it is not impossible that this is where we are headed, it does not seem appropriate at this time.
