United Artists 4 a Cause
A Bit About Me...
Ever since I was very young I always had a love for dogs and drawing. The dogs were always there. The drawing was
occasional. People used to tell me I was wasting this gift God gave me but the comment would just roll off me.
I remember the day I just HAD to start drawing again as if it was yesterday. I was brushing Jake in the sun. Watching his expressive face and seeing the way the sunlight sparkled on his shiny, red coat was all the inspiration I needed to become an artist again.
One of my portraits of Jake went on display in the coffee shop I worked in. Through time my husband would share with me his lack of courage to start a conversation with me back then. He tells me for almost a year he tried to summon the nerve for conversation. The day I hung my portrait of Jake was the day he found his courage. David also shares my love of Golden Retrievers and the face in the portrait invited him into our world. That was the beginning of something I
had not anticipated, but something wonderful.
I now should mention my passion for the red sands of Prince Edward Island which grew stronger year by year since a book report in grade 6. I soon learned my little slice of heaven was home for David and eventually would be the setting for our wedding on August 26, 2005 with Jake as our ring bearer. Jake only made two trips to P.E.I. but I am so thankful I have memories of him with me there on my most favourite place on earth!
There was an unspoken language with my dog that many pet owners will understand. It is best described as "being in tune" with each other.
Many walks with Jake strengthened my spirit and faith. I'm not in a hurry to leave this earth but I do look forwards to walking with my dear companion once again.
I am here today with my husband by my side, drawing and striving for new goals I never dreamed of before. With increasing faith I am seeing more clearly this path God put me on through a very special dog named Jake.
In 2007 we opened our hearts to another furry companion. A subject of many photographs. Our "Hero"
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
We walk a path in life not knowing where it leads, and while we walk we leave impressions on most of those we meet. A chain reaction, our words and actions touch others in a way that hopefully are kind and good and change our world each day.
